Our Mission - WEB-ONLY

For greater digital sovereignty

What does “WEB-ONLY” mean?

WEB-ONLY refers to the transition to web-based software. This involves switching to a web desktop and using applications that can be run in a browser. This affects email, files, office applications, communication, etc., as well as all administrative processes.

What are the advantages of WEB-ONLY?

The browser is one of the few programs that is available on all operating systems and devices. It is also decoupled from the operating system thanks to sandbox technology. Software that runs in the browser is then available everywhere. Furthermore, a desktop operating system is no longer required, eliminating the need for additional software such as software distribution, workstation backup, virus software, etc. Other features, such as single sign-on, are also simplified.

What are the disadvantages of WEB-ONLY?

The biggest challenge for users is probably leaving their familiar environment. For graphics-intensive applications such as CAD, a desktop is currently still better suited.

How was WEB-ONLY implemented in Pintexx Workplace?

Pintexx Workplace consists of a platform and applications. Both the platform and the applications can be administered entirely web-based. All applications such as email, files, Office, and communication are also web-based. The Pintexx Workplace COCKPIT is the new web desktop. In addition, there are several tools for making desktop operating systems or programs web-enabled. First, Pintexx Workplace REMOTE can be used to access a Windows system via a browser. The same product can also be used to make desktop applications web-enabled. A dedicated terminal server enables Windows desktop applications to run on the platform. The smartphone workstation replaces the laptop and, together with the Pintexx Workplace app, enables operation on mobile devices.

How can I implement “WEB-ONLY”?

The implementation process is not a one-time event, but a step-by-step procedure. The first step is to combine PW COCKPIT as a central web portal with comprehensive authentication options and PW REMOTE for accessing Windows as a home office solution. The next step would be to switch to web-based telephony with PW Phone or use a communication solution such as PW Chat and/or PW Video. Switching to a new email system would certainly be a major change. Here, we recommend integrating Outlook Web Access or other web-based email software into the Cockpit. The next step would be to use PW Drive, our online explorer for accessing all types of documents. PW Office could then be used to edit documents online. Finally, the switch to a new email system could be made. The smartphone workstation can be used at any time using PW REMOTE or the PW app. The same applies to the use of PC On Demand via the PCRack.
